Allergy Ordering at Disney World During Covid-19

There are a lot of things different at Walt Disney World right now, you can read my post on what Disney World is Like Right Now here. Right now, the parks are encouraging the use of the Disney World app to Mobile Order. Even during “normal” times, Mobile Order is really helpful to avoid waiting in long lines to get your food. It’s super convenient to order from the other side of the park, choose your pickup window, and then walk over and just wait while your food is prepared without standing in line.

However, if you have a food allergy, there are some restaurants that don’t participate in Mobile Ordering for allergies. While most restaurants offer allergy options on their mobile order options, not all restaurants do, and some restaurants have more allergy options than those listed on the app.

Mobile Ordering

First, I’ll cover how to order on the app. This applies whether you have an allergy order or not.

In the Disney World app (link to download), click the plus button in the middle at the bottom. From there, choose Order Food.

From there, all of the restaurants with their available pickup times will pop up. You can choose whichever time works best for you. Sometimes if a place is popular, there will be no times left for popular times (like around noon), so if you know you want to eat there, make your order as early as possible and choose the time that you want. When you click on the pickup time, the menu for that restaurant will pop up. You can view categories at the top, and at some restaurants, there’s an Allergy-Friendly category.

The Allergy-Friendly category will cover a few major allergens. If you have one not listed or have multiple allergies, you will need to order in-person. If your allergy is listed, then click on that allergy. You can then see the allergy friendly options for that allergy. Click on the item to see more or to add it to your order.

You can also modify certain aspects of the meal on this screen. Once you have it customized to your preferences, you can add it to your order.

Once you add everything you want to your order, you can check out. You can pay with a credit card or Disney gift card. If you are paying cash, you will need to order in-person.

After placing your order, you can do other things in the app or close the app until it’s time to pick up your food. When your pickup time is up, go to the restaurant and open your app. Click the bottom left button that has the three horizontal lines. From there click “Mobile Food Orders”. You will see your Mobile Orders there.

When you choose the order you are picking up, you click “Prepare My Order”. A cute little screen with a spatula flipping a hamburger patty will show up until your order is ready. When your order is ready, the screen will change and it will show your order number and in some locations it will tell you a pickup window number. You will show that screen to the Cast Member outside of the restaurant and they will let you enter. You will go to the pickup window and pick up your food. Then you will be allowed to sit in the restaurant’s dining area.

Ordering In-Person

If you don’t feel comfortable ordering an allergy order on the app, are paying in cash, or have multiple allergies, then you will need to order in-person. To order in-person, you will simply walk up to the Cast Member that is checking order numbers from Mobile Orders and let them know you have an allergy and would like to order in person. They will direct you to the order window, you will order, and then you will either wait on your food at the pickup window or be given a pager that will buzz when your food is ready. You can then go sit in the restaurant’s dining area.

That’s how ordering works right now. For a video of how ordering works, see the video below!
