Disney World Park Pass Reservation System

Since Disney World reopened, guests have been required to make a reservation to visit the parks. Disney Executives have confirmed this system is here to stay for at least the next couple of years. Reservations are made through the Park Pass reservation system online. I recommend making reservations as soon as you buy your tickets, and buying your tickets as early as possible because some days will fill up quickly.

You can watch my quick video on the system here, or keep reading below for more details.

You can make your reservations in the MyDisneyExperience part of the DisneyWorld website. You can navigate to it by hovering over MyDisneyExperience and choosing “Disney Park Pass System”.

You can also access it directly through this link: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/experience-updates/park-reservations/ .

From there you can make your reservations by signing into your Disney account. You can also take a look at the Theme Park Reservation Availability. Availability is divided up into three categories: Theme Park Tickets, Select Resort Hotels, and Annual Passes.

Theme Park Tickets covers those that have one day or multi-day tickets to the parks, but are not staying at a Disney Resort Hotel. Select Resort Hotels covers guests staying at a Disney hotel that have valid theme park tickets. Annual Passes covers guests with Disney World Annual Passes.

Guests with multi-day tickets or Disney Resort stays can make reservations for as many days as they have tickets. Annual Passholders can make reservations for up to three days. (If an Annual Passholder has a reservation at a Disney Resort hotel, they can make reservations for as many days as their hotel stay).

There are three colors that denote availability on the calendar. Green means that every park has availability that day, yellow means that some parks have availability, and grey means that no parks have availability.

Typically, Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios fill up the quickest, with Epcot usually being the last park to hit reservation capacity.

Park Hopping

If you have a Park Hopper ticket or Annual Pass, you can now park hop after 2pm. In order to park hop though, you must have a park reservation for the first park you plan on going to. You must scan in to this park as well. Even if you just turn around and leave, the system must recognize that you visited the park you have a reservation for first. Once you visit the park you have a reservation for, you may hop to a different park if it’s after 2pm. There is no limit to how many parks you can hop to. The only limit would be if a park is at capacity, which you can check by calling the capacity hotline at (407) 560-5000. There haven’t been any instances that I have heard of parks hitting capacity to hopping since they’ve reopened. You are always counted in the capacity of the original park you had a reservation for, so even if your first park hits capacity and you want to return to it, you can get in.

As parks increase capacity, it will become easier and easier to get reservations for the parks. While some don’t like this system, it does give Disney a chance to better prepare for how many people will be in each park each day. If you are visiting Walt Disney World any time in the next couple of years, I highly recommend familiarizing yourself with the Park Pass System, so you are able to visit the parks.
