Cítricos Gluten Free Dinner Review

On New Year’s Eve we had dinner at Cítricos at the Grand Floridian Resort. Since Cítricos is a signature dining restaurant, we got more dressed up than usual. I had planned on wearing a new black dress I got, but my friend surprised me with a dress from The Dress Shop that was perfect for New Year’s Eve.

Don’t we look fancy?

After taking pictures with the giant tree in the lobby and the gingerbread house, we headed upstairs to Cítricos. We checked in at the desk and sat to wait to be called. It was quite a busy night, but that’s to be expected for NYE. After about 15 minutes we were led to our table. Our waitress offered us three different types of water, sparkling, tap, and San Pellegrino. That’s when we knew we were probably at the fanciest restaurant we’ve ever been to. We were seated next to the kitchen, so we were able to see all the dishes coming out and both of us decided the Oak-Grilled Beef Fillet. After we ordered, we were brought bread, regular for hubby, and GF tapioca rolls for me. The butter was their signature butter with a hint of citrus and sea salt. The citrus was a nice touch and set it apart from the usual butter you get on property. Hubby ordered the Citricos Golden Margarita and said it was the smoothest margarita he’s ever had (and with a $16 price tag I would hope it would be!).

Our fillets arrived rather quickly, and they looked scrumptious. I would say this fillet goes on my list of top five fillets I’ve ever had. Not only was the steak good, but the potato purée was fabulous too. It also came with dragon carrots, which I had never heard of before. They were interesting looking, and were a dark purple color. I was skeptical at first but oh man, they were awesome. They were super tender and really savory. I’m a fan now.

The steak was served with grass clippings (I have no idea what herb was used as the garnish) and Cipollini jam, which I’ve learned is a type of onion. I scraped both of these off, as I’m not a huge fan of onions and garnishes.

After dinner, we ordered desserts. The only gluten free options that they offered was the Tropical Fruit Crème Brûlée or the sorbet. I opted for the
Crème Brûlée. It was really good, but there was nothing overly special about it. It was also huge. I could only eat about a quarter of it.

Overall, our meal at Cítricos was enjoyable, but it came with a hefty price tag. It was the most expensive meal we had while at Disney, but it was worth it for the special occasion. I would recommend Cítricos to anyone looking for a fancy night out at a more upscale restaurant than your typical in-park dining.
