Kona Cafe Gluten Free Lunch Review

*This experience and review were both during COVID-19, so experiences may differ in the future*

Kona Cafe is located at Disney’s Polynesian Resort. It is on the second floor of the lobby, to the left of ‘Ohana.

I checked in on my phone using mobile check-in, where you confirm the details you made when you made your reservation. When our table was ready (2 minutes after I checked in!), I received a text to let me know to return to the host stand.

The regular menu was online, and like most restaurants, we were given a QR code to scan to access the menu. The allergy menu was a physical menu though.

Our waitress brought out some gluten free bread for me to enjoy before our meal, and this was some of the best looking and best tasting gluten free bread I’ve had at a Disney restaurant. It looked so good I had to double check against Nick’s bread to make sure it was actually gluten free!

I ordered the Kona Chicken Stir Fry. It was made with rice noodles and had a lot of different vegetables chopped up in it, and was topped with Chicken.

The stir fry was really good. The noodles were slippery though, so it was a little hard to eat. They kept slipping off my fork, and chopsticks didn’t help any, so it took me a while to eat it. Other than that, it was a great dish!

Overall, Kona Cafe is a great choice if you’re looking for a casual meal. It’s relatively inexpensive compared to other Disney restaurants, and it’s just a monorail ride away from Magic Kingdom. I’ve eaten here many times and I always enjoy my meal.
