Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory Gluten Free Lunch Review

**Since we last dined here, the gluten free beignets have been moved to Scat Cat’s. I will review that restaurant as soon as I can**

Located at Port Orleans French Quarter, Sassagoula Floatworks and Food factory is just a quick boat ride away from Disney Springs. It is a food court style quick service, so while there are no allergy friendly menus available, it is still very accommodating.

We had a whole day at Disney Springs on our Disneymoon, so we decided to take the boat over to Port Orleans French Quarter for a late lunch. After a peaceful 15 minute boat ride, we disembarked at French Quarter. I love the theming of French Quarter because it’s like New Orleans but without being the actual city.

There are many different stations, and I chose the Burger and Chicken station. I informed the cast member behind the counter that I had an allergy and they got the chef for me. I did have to awkwardly wait a little bit for the chef to arrive, but that’s fairly normal, they’re busy people! I told him I wanted a burger and he asked what all I wanted on it. I got a custom cheeseburger on a gluten free bun. I also ordered three gluten free beignets (pronounced “ben-yay” for those of y’all without Louisiana relatives 😜). He wrote me my receipt and provided me with a pager and said he’d bring it out to me when it was ready. I paid after giving the cashier my receipt the chef wrote and we picked out a table.

The eating area has a Mardi Gras theme, there is garland and masks everywhere, and it’s fun to look for all the little details in the decorations (including some hidden mickeys!). Hubby joined me at the table with his food, and I waited for my buzzer to go off. When it did, I went back to the location where I ordered the food and the chef was there waiting for me with my burger and beignets.

Y’all both of these were so good. I love a good burger with some steak fries and coleslaw.

I had never had beignets before so I was super excited to try these gluten free beignets. They were super yummy, I ate all of them. I also made the mistake of inhaling as I ate one, and I choked on the powdered sugar, causing me to cough and send powdered sugar flying all over the table… resulting in this super flattering photo of me.

So, learn a lesson from me: don’t inhale when eating beignets, and check out Port Orleans French Quarter for some yummy gluten free food.
