The Boathouse Gluten Free Dinner Review
*This review was written during COVID-19, dining experiences may vary in the future*
We made reservations at The Boathouse in Disney Springs for a reservation on a Saturday night. We made sure to note in our reservation that we wanted a table outdoors.
When we checked in, we were immediately taken back to our table. We followed the hostess all the way through the entire restaurant to a table on the side of the restaurant. We didn’t have anyone on one side of us, so we felt kind of secluded where we were sitting, which was nice.
We had a great view of the lake and Rainforest Cafe (The volcano shoots fire every thirty minutes!) and enjoyed watching the amphicars go by.
Our waiter did not ask about any allergies, but I told him I had to eat gluten free. He said that he would notify a manager to assist me in ordering.
The menus were paper menus, which was interesting because every other Disney Springs restaurant is only doing digital menus.
Their menu can be found here. They do not have a gluten free menu.
The manager came out and informed me that they had gluten free bread and that they would bring some out for me. She also asked if there was anything on the menu I was already looking at. I told her the Mahi Tacos and she said they came on corn tortillas, so they were naturally gluten free. She did inform me that the corn tortilla chips on top were cooked in a shared fryer, so they could have cross contamination. I told her that was okay for me.
The bread came out shortly after, and it was a gluten free hamburger bun. Which is usually disappointing, but this bun was actually really good. It was warm and wasn’t crumbly like some buns can be. But, this means that they can do sandwiches or burgers with a gluten free bun!
I got the Grilled Mahi Tacos. They looked delicious and they tasted really good too. I’m just now starting to like fish, so if I enjoyed them, anyone that eats fish regularly will definitely enjoy them. They did have a bit of a spice kick, but I’m a wimp when it comes to spiciness and I still enjoyed them. The corn tortillas did fall apart a little bit as I was eating them, but that’s to be expected from corn tortillas.
Overall, I really enjoyed my dinner at The Boathouse. The food was good and sitting outside over the water was really relaxing. We will definitely be back to try more dishes from here!
