Planning a Trip to Disney World in 2022
Planning a trip to Walt Disney World can be a daunting task, especially with all the changes happening in recent years. My goal is to make the planning a little easier. Over the next few weeks, I will be sharing my tips for planning a Walt Disney World vacation.
Once I’ve written all of the posts, I will link them here as a sort of table of contents for you to reference. I hope you find this useful! If you have other questions, let me know in the comments below.

Picking a Hotel
There are so many options when it comes to Disney hotels. Picking the hotel that is right for your family should be one of your first decisions when planning a Disney or Central Florida vacation.
Purchasing Tickets
There are a few different types of tickets, so make sure you pay attention to which one you are buying. Also, I’ll cover park hopping and how the new reservation system works. You should book your tickets as soon as you know what days you want to visit, because days will fill up in advance.
Making a Park Reservation
While I do cover this topic in the Purchasing Tickets post, I feel like it needs it’s own post. This step is CRITICAL because you cannot get into a park without a reservation.
All Things Dining
Dining at Disney can be cheeseburgers and chicken fingers, but it can also be gourmet meals with fantastic theming. You want to have an idea of where you want to eat beforehand if you’re planning on eating at any restaurants that require reservations.
Genie + and Lightening Lane
Do you plan on riding rides all day? You might want to consider getting Genie + for your group. This is what replaced the old Fastpass system. It is now a paid service that you can buy the morning you plan on using it. You can also purchase individual attraction passes, called Lightening Lane passes for a select few attractions.
For a look at Genie + when it was first introduced, check out this post.
Magic Kingdom
When someone says “Disney World”, Magic Kingdom is usually what people think of. Magic Kingdom has the most rides out of all four parks, and is probably one of the most “kid friendly” parks.
Epcot
Epcot has a reputation for being a more adult oriented park, but there are still plenty of things for kids to do at Epcot!
Animal Kingdom
Animal Kingdom combines a zoo with a theme park, and has some of the best rides at Disney World.
Hollywood Studios
Hollywood Studios has become one of the most popular parks in the past few years with the additions of Toy Story Land and Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge.
Disney Springs
Disney Springs is the shopping and entertainment district at Disney World. Admission and parking are free, but you will most likely spend some money at one of the shops or restaurants!
Water Parks
Disney World also has two water parks that are great for a hot day when you don’t feel like going to one of the main parks!
